The
Filipino Ministry of St. Clement, as part of a culturally diverse community,
seeks to promote spiritually, unity and charity, among its members and in the
larger parish community, nurtures the positive cultural traits and values of
Filipinos, and encourages its members to participate in all parish activities,
utilizing their talents and gifts for the good of all. Its current board members
are: Ed Gesmundo, Chair, Romy Cabrera, Vice-Chair, Ed Feria, Treasurer, Debbie
Leonico, Secretary, Aurora Drona, Asst. Secretary, Arnel Pascual, Leo Baltazar,
Obet Rodriguez and Rosalie De Guzman, members. Regular meetings are held at 7:00
p.m. every second Tuesday of the month. Special meetings are held as determined
by the chairperson, upon timely notice to the committee members. The Filipino
Ministry's major activities include the New Year's Eve Dance, Lenten Retreat and
Soup Suppers, Santacruzan Festival, Summer Picnic, Thanksgiving Food Basket to
FESCO, Christmas Caroling and Simbang Gabi.
Saint Vincent de
Paul is a group of dedicated parishioners who provide material assistance to
those in need. Emergency food, shelter and clothing are provided to parishioners
and those who live within the parish boundaries. Parishioners make this ministry
possible through generous contributions of money and gifts of food.
The society meets every fourth (4th) Monday of the month at the Parish Center.
Forever Young
Seniors meets on every first (1st) Friday from September to May. Seniors
gather for Eucharist and the Sacrament of Anointing at 11:00 a.m. Lunch follows.
Fellowship and camaraderie are shared, as well as many stories.
South Hayward Parish
is a coalition of seven Hayward Christian churches. In its long history, the
South Hayward Parish has collaborated to deal with issues regarding race,
welfare, fair housing and hunger.
Senior Center:
In conjunction with the South Hayward Parish and the Hayward Adult School, St.
Clement hosts the Senior Center at McCollum Hall every Thursday from 11:00 a.m.
to 1:30 p.m. Craft, lunch and timely presentations are sponsored.
Family Emergency
Shelter Coalition (FESCO) was initiated in 1986. St. Clement Parish
was a principal founder of this shelter now supported by the churches of various
denominations. The shelter allows families a chance to become self-sustaining
members of the community.
Respect Life
takes its mandate from the Papal Encyclical, "The Gospel of Life". All
members of the parish are encouraged to participate and support the Respect Life
programs.
Gabriel Project
is an ecumenical movement of churches standing together in their commitment to
offer assistance to women and families facing crisis pregnancies.
Catholic Youth
Organization (CYO) is a self-supporting organization promoting sportsmanship
and self-improvement through athletic competition. This sport program is open to
2nd through 8th grade boys and girls who live within the parish boundaries.
Legion of Mary
is a local chapter of a worldwide movement that gathers weekly for prayer and
spiritual outreach. The chapter meets Saturdays and sponsors a weekly rosary and
seasonal processions.
Knights of Columbus
is a Catholic men's organization with members drawn from all Hayward Catholic
Churches. The knights meet monthly.
St. Clement Parish
Festival is an annual event that celebrates the parish community while also
being a major fundraiser for the year. It is a weekend gathering for the entire
family featuring entertainment, food and a raffle. This event usually
occurs in the fall.
