Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation & Eucharist)
Rite of
Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA): The Catholic Church warmly welcomes
new members. An inquiry period precedes the formal faith formation and
instruction in the Catholic faith. The sacraments are celebrated at the Easter
Vigil for those formally received into the Church. Call the Parish Center for
more information.
Baptismal
Preparation-Journey of Faith: This is a preparation program for parents who
want to have their infants baptized in the faith. Parents meet
with the catechist who welcomes and instructs families on their responsibility
of being the primary "educator in faith." The Journey of Faith is
offered in both English and Spanish.
Confirmation: Confirmation
is available to High School freshman, who seek to complete their initiation into
the Catholic faith. The preparation program includes service projects and
retreats and meets weekly. Registration begins in August and the sacrament is
celebrated in October. Adults who desire Confirmation are welcomed into an
adult preparation program in September.
First Communion and
Reconciliation: This is a family centered program. Parents must attend
parent meetings. Preparation for these sacraments is a two year process.
Generally, children receive their first Eucharist while in second grade and
Reconciliation occurs while in the third grade. The program is available in both
English and Spanish.
Sacrament of
Matrimony: According to Diocesan policy, arrangements for weddings
must begin at least six (6) months prior to the date of marriage. At least one party
should be a member of St. Clement Parish. Marriage preparations include an
interview with the couple by priest-celebrant, several meetings to discuss
married life and a session to plan wedding liturgy.
